Day 1: Libreville
Arriving in Libreville and directly transferring to the hotel. In the afternoon, Libreville city tour.
Day 2: Libreville/Port-Gentil/Loango National Park
In the morning, transferring to Libreville International Aiport, taking the breakfast and then taking the plan from Libreville to Port-Gentil, arriving in Port-Gentil at 10 am. After checking at the Aiport of Pprt-Gentil, then transferring from Port-Gentil to Loango National Park by 4x4 Car (5 hours). Arriving in Loango Lodge, taking a lunch and taking some resting time.
In the afternoon, you will begin your exploration of Loango National Park by crossing the lagoon for an incredible boat ride. This visit will make you discover the vast lagoon system of Iguela and its role in the ecosystem of Loango. You will have the opportunity to see the Iguela hippopotamuses and a good variety of birds. (African Ombrette, Goliath Heron, Giant Kingfisher, kingfisher, scissor bite, royal tern, pink gray cheetahs, vulture palm kernel and more). Back to the Lodge - dinner and night.
Day 3: Yatouga-Camp and Gorillas Trekking
Today, departure early morning (around 08:00) for a boat trip on Iguela lagoon to Akaka via the Yatuga Gorilla research camp.
You will meet the research team who will make an introduction on the visit. After the briefing, you will go by boat then enter walk in the forest following a team of pygmy trackers instructed to follow daily from Kamaya silver back of the group and his family, as well as young people. Once you have made contact with the gorilla group, you will have the chance to observe them closely (often between 10 and 12 meters). It's a unique experience to share the intimacy of a family
large wild primate in the middle of an equatorial forest.
After spending 1 hour with Gorillas, you will cross the remaining part of the lagoon before to go up the river Rembo Ngowe. This part of Loango captures the essence of coastal Gabon: its vast bodies of water, its remoteness and the context permanent forest. Take advantage of this vast hydrographic network and its floodplains. The life of the birds, along the rivers is prolific, crocodiles (3 species) and the manatees are present but shy. In season the buffalo and elephant forest, which migrate to the region, are easily visible from the boat u. Smaller mammals as sitatunga (a marsh antelope), river pigs, forest duikers, five species of monkey and great apes inhabit the entire region year. The river is also home to the dwarf crocodile. You will spend the night at Akaka Camp.
Day 4: Akaka Camp back to Yatouga Camp
Travelling from Akaka camp to Yatouga camp through Iguela lagoon and Rembo Ngowe. When arriving in Yatouga camp, you will meet the research team who will make an introduction on the visit. After the briefing, you will go by boat then enter walk in the forest following a team of pygmy trackers instructed to follow daily from Kamaya silver back of the group and his family, as well as young people. Once you have made contact with the gorilla group, you will have the chance to observe them closely (often between 10 and 12 meters). It's a unique experience to share the intimacy of a family large wild primate in the middle of an equatorial forest. After speding an hour with Gorilla, then you will take the boat back to loango lodge where you will take part of others activitites.
Day 5: Loango National Park/Port-Gentil/Libreville
Today, day of departure. Breakfast will be served from 07:00 and you will have time to prepare your departure. If you plan to fly later in the day, we will still be able to organize one last morning activity and lunch in Loango before your departure to Port-Gentil where you will take your plan in the morning and arriving in Libreville in afternoon, then you will be tranfering to the hotel where you will rest for few hours. Later, transfering to Libreville where you spend your night.
Day 6: Libreville-Brazzaville-Odzala
Airport assistance at Maya Maya Airport (Brazzaville). Congo Conservation Company’s charter flight: departs Brazzaville at 1pm, arrives Odzala at 3pm
(2 hours), landing at Mboko. Road transfer from airstrip to Ngaga Camp (3-hour drive through the Odzala-Kokoua National Park).
• Meet the gorilla research team followed by dinner
• Overnight Ngaga Camp in an en-suite forest room.
• Gorilla tracking in the morning with a guide and tracker from our team.
• Lunch at Ngaga Camp.
• Afternoon relaxation followed by a forest walk for bird watching and discovery of forest life and river sundowners. Overnight Ngaga Camp in an en-suite forest room.
Day 7: Ngaga Camp
Gorilla tracking in the morning with a guide and tracker from our team. Lunch at Ngaga Camp. Afternoon time with the gorilla research team, forest walk and a night walk to view nocturnal forest life. Overnight Ngaga Camp in an en-suite forest room.
Day 8: Mbomo Village-Odzala Kokoua National Park
Relaxed morning in camp or complete the 3rd gorilla track if you didn’t the afternoon before. Road transfer through Mbomo village and the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Arrive at Mboko Camp for lunch followed by a kayak safari or sundowner river cruise. Overnight Mboko Camp in an en-suite river room.
Day 9: Mboko camp-Bazzaville-Internationalflight
Breakfast at Mboko Camp. Congo Conservation Company’s charter flight: departs Odzala at 9am, arrives Brazzaville at 11am. (2 hours), landing at Maya Maya Airport. Connect with onward flight or stay in Brazzaville and soak up the city atmosphere and/or taking your international flight back home.
